Family story preserved: New Yorker brings grandfather’s WWI writings to print

Priscilla Konecky has spent countless hours poring over the writings of her grandfather, Philip Parker, who immigrated to New York from Romania with his family when he was 6 years old. Parker died when Konecky was 11.

“This is exactly as he wrote it, and my goal was to leave it that,” Konecky said.

Through the pages of a book Parker wrote but never had the chance to publish, Konecky said she has come to know him in a way she never could while he was alive…
