Yonkers home destroyed as firefighters battle flames and frigid cold

A single-family home on Nepperhan Avenue in Yonkers was heavily damaged by an early morning fire, leaving a family displaced – but safe.

Flames broke out around 6 a.m., starting in the upper levels of the home and quickly spreading into the attic.

The family inside said smoke alarms alerted them as smoke poured from roof vents. Everyone was able to escape safely, and no injuries were reported…
