Four teens nabbed in Brewster for Long Island auto theft

BREWSTER- A license plate reader alert in Brewster through the Westchester-Putnam Crime Center reporting a vehicle stolen from Nassau County led to the arrests of four juveniles from Brooklyn on a variety of charges.

Sheriff Brian Hess reported on Valentine’s Day around 7:50 a.m. after a deputy’s LPR became activated, the officer located the vehicle in the parking lot at 1 Starr Ridge Road and attempted to stop it.

Hess said the “vehicle came to a stop after backing into a snow bank and four occupants fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, the driver was apprehended with the assistance of the Village of Brewster Police. A second suspect was located hiding inside a nearby business and the remaining two occupants were located inside a nearby gas station. All were taken into custody by deputies with the assistance of the New York State Police…
