NEW YORK (PIX11) — A New York City corrections officer pleaded guilty after claiming $370,336.79 in benefits by faking injuries while working at Rikers Island, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Jay Clayton, announced on Tuesday.
Todd Faustin received a large amount of benefits by falsely claiming that he was injured while on duty at Rikers Island. The defendant claimed that he was involved in incidents with prisoners that required the use of force, according to court documents.

“Todd Faustin fraudulently received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the City of New York by faking injuries after some of the most delicate and dangerous interactions within our criminal justice system—incidents where force is used against an incarcerated person,” said U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton
