Women Of Delaney Hall ICE Detention Center Join Strike Over ‘Inhumane’ Conditions

Women detained at The Delaney Hall Detention Center in Newark, New Jersey, joined the hunger strike that began on May 22. Along with joining the strike, the women initially wrote a letter, which was just issued this week by advocacy groups.

Delany Hall has been the biggest sustained ICE protest since widespread civil disobedience by citizens in Minneapolis.

The initial hunger strike in May included at least 300 male detainees. Although there were women among the initial strike, after nearly all of the previous detainees who had participated in the prior strike were transferred out, more women joined the current one…
