It sounds like a bad “Saturday Night Live” sketch. But it really happened in Cranford on Tuesday night. Without a clear motivation, several people turned the public comment section of the Township Committee meeting into a clown show with frequent shouting and interruptions.
Purple bong kicks off bizarre public comment circus
Things seemed innocent enough when a man dressed as a large purple bong introduced himself as “Bong Holeo,” likely a reference to Beavis and Butt-Head. The man said his wife, Pink Holeo, was unable to attend the meeting. He held a baby doll dressed as a red bong, Bongholito, while the sounds of a crying baby played loudly.
