LAWRENCE, N.Y. (Sep. 1, 2026) — Bad weather is heading toward the local area and northern New Jersey, bringing several rounds of strong storms that could make driving dangerous over the next couple of days. Forecasters say a line of stormy weather is pushing in, creating messy conditions on the roads right around the time most people are heading home from work.
The biggest threat is expected later in the afternoon and into the evening hours. While a few light showers could pop up earlier in the day, the heaviest rain, strongest winds, and worst travel conditions will hit between late afternoon and tonight.
