An uptick in rodent activity across Montclair has prompted the township to deploy garbage inspectors and encourage residents to report rodents via an online tool.
Health Department Director Amy Monaco told the Township Council on Monday garbage left outside of bins, poorly maintained dumpsters, construction and standing water can all increase rodent activity.
“We definitely have been seeing an uptick in reports really across the township,” Monaco said. Officials did not reference specific parts of the township.
What Attracts Rodents?
“There are several factors that contribute to rodent activity: garbage not being placed in bins, being left in bags, dumpsters that have holes and have grease on them,” she added. “All of these things are really an attractant.”…
