Newark, NJ – New Jersey residents preparing for the 2026-27 winter season could experience warmer-than-normal temperatures and increased chances of precipitation across much of the state, including Newark, Jersey City, Trenton and Atlantic City. However, snowstorms, freezing rain and dangerous cold remain possible despite the milder seasonal outlook.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), its seasonal outlook issued Thursday, October 15, favors above-normal temperatures across New Jersey from November 2026 through January 2027. The precipitation outlook also slightly favors wetter-than-normal conditions across the state.
