Crips gangster who helped plan shooting of rival is sentenced to prison

A gang member from the Newark area was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison on Wednesday for his involvement in the fatal shooting of one of his gang’s rivals. Tre Byrd, 22, a member of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips, had pleaded guilty in October 2023 to a racketeer influenced and corrupt organizations (RICO) conspiracy, the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of New Jersey announced Wednesday.
