NEWARK, NJ — A proposed 46-story building with apartments and retail space could replace vacant commercial buildings in an historic part of downtown Newark close to Prudential Center.
The proposal for “Newark Summit Tower,” a 46-story mixed-use building with 579 residential units would come to 200-204, 206-208 Market St., according to the application from Prudential Point LLC, which is scheduled to be presented to the Zoning Board of Adjustment on Thursday, Feb. 22.
“It’s a high-end tower that we’re bringing to Newark,” said Daniel Spiegel, co-owner of the real estate developer KS Group. “Newark’s population is growing. We feel that this is a beautiful, attractive building that could go very well in Newark.”
Existing vacant commercial buildings would be torn down and replaced by the proposed residential building, which also would include 11,537 square feet of retail space and 142 off-street parking spaces, according to the application.
The plans also call for a pool, spa, gym, restaurant and children’s playroom, Spiegel said.
