FAIRFIELD, NJ – An investigation continues into the deadly shooting that took place at a Fairfield hotel on Friday afternoon, according to Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Fairfield Police Chief Anthony Manna.
The fatal shooting at the Ramada Hotel on Two Bridges Road in Fairfield occurred at approximately 12:27 p.m. on Friday. The Fairfield Police Department received a 911 call reporting “unknown trouble” at the hotel. Arriving officers located two males both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One male was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:35 p.m. The second victim was rushed to an area hospital, where he is currently being treated.

The deceased victim has been identified as Mohammad Sahariar, 28, of Fairfield.
This incident is being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, and detectives from the Fairfield Police Department. The investigation is active and ongoing. Although the investigation is active and open, authorities believe there is no imminent threat to the community.
