Did someone say, ‘there’s a parade … and a party?’

On October, 28, 1886, that stretch of New York’s Lower Broadway now known as the “Canyon of Heroes” had its first parade, an impromptu affair, to celebrate the dedication of the Statue of Liberty. Now, nearly 138 years to the day, the citizens of New York will gather again on Thursday on those same streets to celebrate another Lady Liberty from New York.
