NEW JERSEY – U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer Thursday released the following statement in response to Governor Kathy Hochul’s refusal to turn off New York’s Congestion Tax cameras and her insulting remarks about Jersey commuters and families:
“Governor Hochul owes an apology to hardworking Jersey commuters for claiming they are ‘not forced’ to come to New York. Yesterday, in a press conference, Hochul said ‘New Jersey residents, come, you are welcome. But you’re not forced to come here.’
These comments are a slap in the face to the cops, firefighters, nurses, teachers, and countless other professionals who commute to New York every day to work, contribute to the economy, and support local businesses. Jersey residents pay $4.3 billion in taxes to New York every year, yet the Governor continues to take them for granted…
