Pregnant woman’s killer gets 40 years to life for Harlem execution-style shooting

NEW YORK , NY — The man convicted of fatally shooting his pregnant ex-girlfriend in Harlem in 2021 was sentenced Thursday to 40 years to life in prison, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced.

Gunfire erupted after baby shower

Justin Soriano, 43, was convicted in November of murdering 31-year-old Shanice Young, who was eight months pregnant at the time of her death. Prosecutors said Soriano shot Young in the face multiple times in the early morning hours of Sept. 12, 2021, just after she returned home from a baby shower.
