Dead-End Block in Jersey City Could See 264 Apartments, Pickleball Court

A dead-end street just off JFK Boulevard could soon get a residential complex that is slated to include high-end amenities and would sport a modern look.

Plans have been submitted to revitalize 49-51 Morton Place, the site of a former adult day care center facility. The location is a bit obscure; Morton Place spans just two blocks, and the property backs up to rail tracks that are owned by the Central Railroad of New Jersey.

The applicant seeking to revamp the property is called Morton Place Plaza LLC and they are registered out of a JFK Boulevard property in Jersey City. Their plan, drawn up by MVMK Architecture + Design, calls for a six-story residential building that would top out at just under 70 feet in height.

The development would include a lower-level garage with space for 127 vehicles and 135 bicycles. The residential component would consist of 264 units with a significant affordable component, as 28 of the residences would be set aside as affordable housing…
