Two years after its original projected opening, Newark’s School of Architecture & Interior Design will open on schedule this year under a temporary certificate of occupancy good for 90 days, officials said.
The city Department of Engineering granted the temporary certificate, or TCO, to the 5-story orange-brick school in the city’s Ironbound section on Aug. 18, the department said Wednesday.
“The TCO allows the occupiable parts of the building to be occupied, as certified by inspectors,” the statement read. “The students in the first cohort, comprising the school’s first freshman class, can safely attend this high school.”…
