NEW YORK (PIX11) – A Code Blue was declared in New York City on Monday as temperatures plummeted to the teens overnight.
Emergency Management officials issue a Code Blue when temperatures are expected to be below freezing from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next day. Teams will canvass the five boroughs to make sure every homeless person gets into a shelter, according to NYCEM.
