QUEENS, NY – A 40-year-old man was killed Monday night when the scooter he was riding collided with an SUV and then struck a fire hydrant at a busy intersection in Jamaica, according to police.
Officers responded around 10:30 p.m. to reports of a crash at 204th Street and Jamaica Avenue within the 103rd Precinct. Investigators from the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 2024 Zhejiang Jiajue gas-powered scooter, operated by Kevin Loadholt of Jamaica Avenue, was traveling eastbound on Jamaica Avenue when it struck a 2021 Honda HRV making a left turn from 204th Street onto westbound Jamaica Avenue.
The impact caused the scooter to continue forward until it crashed into a nearby fire hydrant. Emergency Medical Services transported Loadholt to North Shore University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead…
