New Jersey’s race to welcome the first baby of 2026 came with a small delay.
University Hospital announced Thursday, Jan. 8, that it delivered what hospital officials believe was the state’s first baby of the new year, born at 12:02 a.m., after staff worked to secure patient consent, a hospital spokesperson said.
