Montclair Township is once again looking for a new chief financial officer after its latest CFO resigned less than four months into the position.
Deyanira Bartlett, who the town council appointed to the role in October 2025, has resigned, Township Manager Stephen D. Marks said on Monday. Bartlett will remain on until Jan. 31, Marks said.
Bartlett declined to comment. She had accepted the job after longtime CFO Padmaja Rao left the post to take a position serving Piscataway Township. In 2024, Rao settled a retaliation lawsuit with Montclair Township suit for $1.25 million, of which Rao received $250,000. The rest of the settlement paid attorney fees.
Rao claimed the former town manager retaliated against her after she blew the whistle on former Montclair town council members unlawful receipt of full-time state health benefits for their part time roles.
