Livingston Woman Charged With Stealing $17K From East Orange High School

Khaliah Johnson, 44, was charged with third-degree theft in connection with pilfering $17,360 from Cicely Tyson High School of Performing Arts in East Orange, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II said.

Johnson was serving as the school’s treasurer and head secretary at the time of the alleged thefts, which occurred between July 5, 2024, and June 16, 2025, Stephens said.

Johnson is accused of writing checks from the school’s fundraising account and using the money for personal expenses, prosecutors. Johnson has since resigned from her position, prosecutors said…
