Heavy snowfall expected to impact key Essex County routes

Emergency crews along the Route 46 and Interstate 80 corridor in Fairfield are preparing for a weekend storm that is expected to bring heavy snowfall to parts of Essex County.

Fairfield officials say the township is expecting between 12 and 18 inches of light, fluffy snow, with less concern for ice or strong winds. Crews will have 19 plows ready and enough rock salt to treat local roads, with supplies growing at the Department of Public Works yard.
