At 5:33 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 31, Tyree Peterson was hit by a car at Clinton Avenue and Thomas Street, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said. The driver remained at the scene, authorities said.
“My brother Tyree was walking home on an uncleared road when he was fatally struck by a car,” his sister Chyane Roberts wrote on a fundraising page. “This was a devastating accident—one that may have been prevented if the roads had been properly plowed.”
“His death could’ve been avoided if the roads were clear enough, he was trying to get out the way of the car before it hit him but due to the sidewalks having snow he could not get out of harms way in time,” Roberts expanded in a Facebook post…
