Estefania Dilone Killed In Airborne Newark Crash

At 2 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 7, Newark police responded to a single-car crash at Route 21 near Riverside Avenue after witnesses reported the vehicle left the roadway, became airborne over a guardrail and fell from the elevated roadway before overturning and landing on Riverside Avenue, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II said.

Estefania Dilone, the driver, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated, Stephens said. She was transported to University Hospital, where she was soon pronounced dead, Stephens said. A passenger in the vehicle was also transported to University Hospital and sustained minor facial fractures, Stephens said.
