Bergen County bank building gets new life as a restaurant. See inside

Almost a century ago, Westwood’s tallest downtown building was the place to go to exchange money and put away savings for a rainy day. Today, stepping through the same doors, you’re greeted with the scent of eggs, paninis and pastries.

While its diamond-patterned terrazzo floor remains, the bank that once occupied the Westwood Trust Building closed half a decade ago. It’s now home to Rosangelly’s Café Restaurant & BakeHouse, which opened Dec. 22.

The four-story edifice at 1 Westwood Ave. could soon be the latest location to receive a historic designation from the borough council, which is due to vote this month. Sebastian Perez, the cafe’s co-owner, may be new to town, but he’s excited to be in a space getting this much attention…
