Lauryn Hill was one of 17 performers nominated Wednesday for induction into the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The Newark native released her classic “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” 28 years ago — the first hip-hop album to win album of the year at the 1999 Grammys. Artists or bands become eligible for nomination 25 years after releasing their first commercial recording.
Other nominees include Phil Collins, Mariah Carey, INXS, Iron Maiden, Luther Vandross, Shakira and the Wu-Tang Clan…
