N.J. police officer, Good Samaritan saved a 77-year-old man who collapsed in front of a school, authorities say

A Secaucus police officer and a civilian resident saved the life of an elderly man this week after he was found unresponsive.

Shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday, the Secaucus Police Department received a report of the unresponsive man on Paterson Plank Road in front of Huber Street School. Officer Emmanuel Mikros arrived on the scene and discovered that the 77-year-old had no pulse, the department said in a statement.

After attempting CPR, Mikros administered a shock to the man using an Automated External Defibrillator. The officer was assisted by Melvin Chettum, a local resident who called police when he saw the man on the ground…
