Firefighters help save cyclist struck by car in N.J. town, authorities say

A cyclist was struck by an SUV on Wednesday night in Maplewood, the South Essex Fire Department said this week.

EMS was called out to the area of 221 Parker Avenue in the township at about 7:04 p.m. on Wednesday on a report of a pedestrian struck. Firefighters responded as well.

Witnesses at the scene later said a white BMW-style SUV hit the cyclist — who was not immediately identified further — heading eastbound on Parker Avenue and kept driving westbound toward Fernwood Road, officials said…
