The owners of Hobby’s Delicatessen & Restaurant savored the accolades Thursday as city officials honored the beloved Jewish deli in downtown Newark.
The restaurant recently earned high marks from state and national publications and now officially has the same from city government. It’s not that deli owners Marc and Michael Brummer have sought out this praise.
“Michael and I don’t run Hobby’s with the goal to be the best delicatessen in America or New Jersey,” Marc Brummer said during a ceremony at the deli. “Rather, as Michael likes to say, ‘We just try to be better today than we were yesterday.’”…
