N.J. lab cited for state Medicaid violations, ordered to pay $3.4M

An Essex County clinical laboratory was cited for dozens of New Jersey Medicaid violations and ordered to pay back over $3.4 million, according to a report from the Office of the State Comptroller.

An audit of Sunrise Clinical Lab in Irvington discovered that the lab billed for drug tests that did not have the required physician signatures in 24% of the cases reviewed, officials said.

The audit also found that the lab did not conduct tests ordered by doctors in 44 separate cases…
