Mom, Kids Forced Out Of Car During Newark Carjacking, Suspect Arrested: Cops

At 7:38 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, police responded to the 100 block of Bloomfield Avenue after a man left a woman and her two children inside a parked vehicle and entered a store to make a purchase, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. said.

Pedro Salazar entered the vehicle’s front driver’s side door and demanded that the woman, who was sitting in the front passenger side of the vehicle, exit, or he would drive off with the two children, who were sitting in the back seat, Miranda said. The woman and her two children, ages 17 and 4, exited the vehicle before the suspect drove off, heading eastbound on Bloomfield Avenue, Miranda said.

Salazar was located driving on Mt. Prospect Place and refused to stop, driving northbound, striking a parked vehicle, and ended up on the 500 block of Clifton Avenue, Miranda said. The vehicle was located unoccupied, Miranda said…
