First responders rescued an unresponsive man from an early-morning apartment fire Monday in Newark, authorities said.
Firefighters responded around 4 a.m. to a report of a fire at 319 Hawthorne Ave., according to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda. Crews pulled an unresponsive man from a first-floor apartment and transported him to University Hospital, where he was reported in critical condition as of Monday morning, officials said.
A firefighter was also taken to the hospital with burns to his hands, wrists and face and was listed in stable condition, authorities said…
