NEWARK Liberty International Airport issued a ground stop after its control tower was evacuated on Monday morning due to a burning smell.
The ground stop came just hours after nearby LaGuardia Airport announced it would be closed through Monday afternoon following a collision between a passenger aircraft and a fire truck.
The ground stop was lifted after about an hour.
“Operations are normal after air traffic controllers temporarily paused arrivals and departures at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey and evacuated the tower because of a burning smell coming from an elevator,” the FAA said in a statement to The U.S. Sun…
