Air traffic control tower evacuated & ground stop issued after reports of smoke at Newark Airport

NEWARK Liberty International Airport issued a ground stop after its control tower was evacuated on Monday morning due to a burning smell.

The ground stop came just hours after nearby LaGuardia Airport announced it would be closed through Monday afternoon following a collision between a passenger aircraft and a fire truck.

The ground stop was lifted after about an hour.
