The body of Samuel Cruz, who went missing after trying to rescue swimmers off Condado Beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico, was recovered March 20, ending a two-day search, reported the U.S. Coast Guard.
“Although this is a most unfortunate outcome, we hope that recovering Samuel can provide his loved ones with some closure,” Lt. Cmdr. Ray Lopez said in a March 20 statement. Lopez, who was the search and rescue mission coordinator for the case, added, “Our hearts are with his family and loved ones as we extend our deepest condolences to them during this difficult time.”
