Suspected Long Island serial killer Rex Heuermann expected to plead guilty, multiple sources say

Multiple sources tell News 12 that suspected Long Island serial killer Rex Heuermann is expected to plead guilty. The decision could come as early as his next court appearance, which is currently scheduled for April 8. The terms of the plea agreement are not known at this time. This all comes just six months before Judge Timothy Mazzei, who is overseeing the case, said the trial was set to begin.

For the first time in this case, Heuermann was noticeably absent from the courtroom during his most recent court appearance earlier this month. His attorney said he was dealing with undisclosed medical issues. This follows months of back and forth between Heuermann’s defense team and prosecutors over what evidence would be allowed in the trial.
