These are among the ‘bad landlords’ of N.J.’s largest city, mayor says

Among the many names Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka checked during his State-of-the-City address on Tuesday was a company he wasn’t proud to have as a local business.

Hudson Valley Property Group was among the first four companies city housing officials had placed on a list of what Baraka called “bad landlords,” a public roster he created by executive order in February to shame property owners that had fail to address substandard conditions in the apartments they rent to city residents.

“These are people that have a series of housing complaints that are consistent and sometimes life-threatening,” Baraka said during the speech before a large crowd at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center…
