SWAT vehicles and heavily armed officers descended on a Bergen County community early Thursday, as police warned residents to shelter in their basements during an investigation.
Officials with the Union County Prosecutor’s Office say they and Lyndhurst police were trying to arrest someone in front of a home on Lake Avenue around 8:30 a.m. That man fled and barricaded himself inside the residence, officials said. SWAT teams were notified, responded to the home, and set up a perimeter.
