Norfolk woman convicted in deadly 2024 stabbing on N. Military Hwy

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY)– A Norfolk jury convicted a woman for a deadly stabbing in January 2024.

Shantika Atara Davis, 47, was found guilty of second-degree murder after she and an unidentified male suspect jumped, stabbed, and killed 57-year-old Clarence Edward Jefferson on North Military Highway on January 8, 2024.

Surveillance footage from a nearby business showed the male suspect fighting with Jefferson. Davis later join in the assault. The video showed Davis pushing Jefferson swinging her hand down over him in apparent stabbing motions. Minutes later, the parties dispersed.

Jefferson was seen walking but collapsed near a utility box due to the severity of his injuries. He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he later died.

After speaking with witnesses, Norfolk Police investigators learned that Davis and Jefferson had an ongoing conflict. Police later secured an arrest warrant for second-degree murder and arrested Davis on June 8, 2024.

Davis admitted to being involved but insisted that she couldn’t have killed Jefferson due to him being able to walk away from the fight. She told police she only joined the fight after the male suspect offered her $50 to help him…
