Poquoson City Public Schools superintendent announces retirement

POQUOSON, Va. (WAVY) — Arty Tillett, Poquoson City Public Schools’ superintendent, has announced his intent to retire between January and June of 2027, according to a press release.

“This is not a decision I have made lightly. Serving as Superintendent of Poquoson Schools has been one of the greatest honors of my professional career,” said Tillett in a statement. “I am proud of the culture we have built and continue to strengthen- a culture centered on students, strong relationships, high expectations, and a genuine commitment to excellence.”

As the Poquoson City School Board begins the search for the next superintendent, the timeline hasn’t been finalized. The school board has promised the community it will conduct a thorough search to find the right leader…
