HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – A 24-year-old Hampton man was sentenced to five years in federal prison for distributing LSD and other illicit drugs, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. U.S. District Judge Arenda Wright Allen handed down the sentence to Josiah Antonio Travis in a Newport News federal court on Aug. 26.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service conducted five controlled drug purchases from Travis between December 2024 and March 2025. During those operations, Travis sold LSD, marijuana, dimethyltryptamine (DMT) and mushrooms containing psilocybin, including a Jan. 8, 2025, deal involving 200 gel tabs of LSD weighing approximately 5.8 grams.
A subsequent search of Travis’ residence uncovered 543.2 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, narcotics packaging materials and a digital scale. Investigators also seized four loaded firearms, various ammunition and ammunition magazines from the home…
