Newport News man convicted of firearm and drug crimes

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A Newport News man was convicted after cocaine, fentanyl, and loaded handgun were found in his possession during apprehension.

On Jan. 31, 2025, the Homeland Security Investigations – High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force located Larry Darnell Dove Jr., 40, who was wanted on outstanding arrest warrants for eluding, assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of Schedule I or II controlled substances, two counts of felon in possession of ammunition and other violations.
