Local Teens Arrested in Connection with N Military Highway Shooting

The Norfolk Police Department (NPD) in Virginia has arrested two individuals in relation to a shooting on N Military Highway. The shooting, which took place on February 17, 2024, resulted in a 19-year-old man sustaining serious gunshot injuries. The victim was found at 6101 N Military Highway and was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He is now expected to recover.

Shortly after the first incident, officers were informed of another gunshot victim at Sentara Leigh Hospital. An 18-year-old man was found with a non-life-threatening gunshot injury. Detectives believe these two incidents are related.

Following an investigation, 18-year-old Kevon D. Cooper of Norfolk was charged with assault and firearm use. Cooper is currently held without bond at the Norfolk City Jail. A 16-year-old male was also charged in relation to the shooting and is currently at the Norfolk Detention Center.

Detectives have not released a motive or any additional details about the incident. The NPD is asking anyone with information to contact the Norfolk Crime Line or submit a tip through the P3 Tips mobile app.
