2 arrested following York breaking and entering incident; 1 suspect found in attic

YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) – Two people were arrested on Friday following a breaking and entering incident on Old Williamsburg Road.

According to officials, Deputy Sheriff Phillip Lake was dispatched to the 100 block of Old Williamsburg Road at 11:45 p.m., after a homeowner claimed to see two suspicious individuals on her property.

Deputy Sheriff Lake arrived to the scene and was able to quickly detain 52-year-old Jonathan Wayne Bolton. Deputies Sean O’Brien and Cody Seals located the second suspect, 60-year-old Karen Emily Canniff, in the attic area of the house.

Both suspects were then arrested and charged with breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools and possession of schedule I or II drugs.

Bolton and Canniff were also found to be wanted in additional jurisdictions for the following charges:

  • Bolton :
    • Wanted out of King and Queen County : Burglary, grand larceny and destruction of property
  • Canniff :
    • Wanted out of Newport News : 10 counts of burglary, two larceny offenses and two charges of obtaining money by false pretense
    • Wanted out of King and Queen County : Burglary, grand larceny and destruction of property
