Youngkin signs legislation to support nuclear development

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed SB 454 in order to “accelerate the development, testing and deployment of small modular nuclear reactors” a release states.

“To meet the power demands of growing and thriving Virginia, it is imperative we continue to explore emerging technologies that will provide Virginians access to the reliable, affordable and increasingly clean energy they deserve,” said Youngkin.

The bill is intended to help increase resources for the use of nuclear developments in order to meet growing demands.
