When Virginia Tech rolled into Norfolk on Saturday evening, they were relatively healthy with just one starter, safety Jalen Stroman, sidelined due to an injury. Then offensive tackle Xavier Chaplin suffered an injury during pregame activities. After being looked at by the medical staff, Chaplin was on the field for the opening snap of the game but quickly was removed for more medical attention.
