Suffolk fire crews respond to vehicle fire; road closure follows

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The City of Suffolk Department of Fire and Rescue responded to a vehicle fire on Godwin Boulevard Friday morning.

The vehicle struck a light pole and fire emerged from the engine compartment, according to officials.

The single occupant exited the vehicle before the fire department’s arrival, and was transported to a local hospital.

Suffolk Public Works has the 5800 block of Godwin Boulevard closed with a detour for a downed power pole. The estimated time for the road to re-open is 2 p.m.
