Surry Nottoway Powwow celebrates culture

Above, Beth Roach of Surry County, of the Nottoway Tribe, leads a precession of dancers during the Grand Entry on Sept. 22 at the Nottoway Powwow, held at the Surry County Parks and Recreation Center. The two-day event, held Sept. 21-22, included intertribal dancing, vendors and crafts, storytelling, educational exhibits, Native American cooking and information on community services.
