The Great Dismal Swamp could be the centerpiece of a new national Heritage Area

SUFFOLK, Va. — The National Park Service say a National Heritage Area represents much more than the land it covers; it tells the story of a region and the people who lived in it.

The proposed Great Dismal Swamp National Heritage Area is in the middle of a three-year feasibility study process.
