Macy’s, Kohl’s closures hit Virginia: See which three stores have shut down

Two of America’s largest department stores, Macy’s and Kohl’s, announced plans earlier this year to permanently shutter several “underperforming” locations across the country.

In January, the department stores made it official: Kohl’s said it planned to close 27 of its more than 1,150 locations by March 29. And Macy’s, which first announced last year that it would close 150 of its “underproductive” stores by 2026 to prioritize a pivot to luxury sales, announced 66 of these locations that will officially be shuttering. Most of them, the company said, would close by April 2025.

So how many and which locations have closed or will be closing in Virginia? According to the companies, there are three in total: Two Kohl’s and one Macy’s store.
